OBLIGATIONS OF SPONSORS TO A LAST CHANCE HOUSE RESIDENT

 1. The sponsors of a man admitted into the Last Chance House will assume all A.A. sponsorship responsibilities and all obligations connected with that man’s stay in the House.

 2. The sponsors must make daily contact either by phone or in person with their resident. In addition, the sponsors must take their resident to at least two outside meetings each week. (Because meetings at the House or Alano Club are mandatory if the resident is not being taken to another meeting by his sponsor, they are not considered outside meetings.)

 3. Sponsors must contact the Custodian, or in his absence a Board Member, by phone or in person for approval to take a man living in the House to an outside meeting. Sponsors must pick up and drop off residents inside the Last Chance House when going to or coming from meetings. The residents have nightly chores which must be finished after dinner, therefore no resident may be picked up before 7:00 PM or until chores are finished.

 4. Last Chance House is not a “DUMPING-OFF-PLACE”. Our main purpose is to help the sponsor with his new man, but the new man remains the sponsor’s responsibility. It is the opinion of the Last Chance House that the sponsor’s involvement is essential to the man’s recovery. The involvement should also cover the man’s conduct and attitude toward the Custodian, Board Members and other residents while in the House.

5. The new man is in every sense, you, the sponsor’s responsibility. You carry the message to him. However, as long as you use the facilities of the House, our rules and regulations MUST be followed.

6. Current Resident Rules and Regulations, a copy of which is given to each resident and posted on the bulletin board, must also be read and accepted by each sponsor.

7. A member of the Board of Directors will be assigned as a House Sponsor to each new resident. His duties involve contacting you on a weekly basis to get your input on how the new man is doing, also to convey to you any concerns the House Committee may have on your new man.

8. Approximately six weeks into the resident’s stay, a mid-term meeting will be scheduled between the resident, both sponsors, and the House Sponsor in order to discuss the resident’s progress to date.

9. Questions on, or clarification of the rules and regulations of the Last Chance House should be addressed to your residents House Sponsor, or the House Committee Chairman.

10. The Principles and Traditions of the A.A. Program shall be the basic guidelines for sponsorship and care of the new man while a resident of the Last Chance House.
